Paper, Prints and Photographs
Appraising a section of wallpaper
Paper objects, including prints and photographs, are
often damaged by such mechanical processes as folding, browsing, bending and
pressing, or are bleached by exposure to light. This group comprises a
large number of single objects, and the work of preventive conservation is thus
focused on such measures as correct storage, protection from mechanical damage
and light, and precise monitoring of environmental conditions. For this reason as well,
special steps must be taken when such objects are lent or exhibited.
